Courtney DuBois Shihabuddin, DNP, APRN-CNP
Nobody told her this part.
Menopause clinician. Nurse practitioner program director. Breast cancer survivor. I help women name what is happening in their bodies, and I teach the clinicians who were never given the evidence to help them.

For producers and editors
A recurring monthly women’s health segment on Good Day Columbus, plus podcasts and commentary going back to 2019. I can hold the clinical and the personal in the same four minutes.
For conferences and employers
CME sessions for clinicians and workplace talks for employers who are quietly losing experienced women in their forties and fifties.
For women and clinicians
A guide for women navigating menopause after breast cancer, and accredited menopause education for the prescribers caring for them.
Why this work
Estrogen is the oil in the engine. When it starts fluctuating, everything it was quietly lubricating begins to grind, and most women have no vocabulary for what is happening to them. They get managed symptom by symptom, by clinicians who through no fault of their own were taught almost nothing about menopause in school.
I have been on both sides of that. Breast cancer moved me from the clinician’s chair to the paper gown, and I heard that’ll happen more often than I heard an explanation. My work now is making sure fewer women hear it.
Looking for care, not just information?
I see patients through Empowered Wellness, my perimenopause and menopause practice. In person in New Albany, Ohio, and by telehealth in Ohio, Oklahoma, Colorado, Florida, New York and New Jersey.
Empowered Wellness is a direct-pay practice and does not bill insurance.
Get what I send out
Evidence worth knowing about perimenopause, menopause and survivorship, written the way I would explain it to a friend. No spam, and you can leave whenever you like.
I ask which state you are in so I can tell you when something is available where you live.
Everything here is education, not medical advice, and it does not create a clinician-patient relationship. Views are my own and are not offered on behalf of The Ohio State University.
